Meet Mike L

L1000151 Last year Lorne from www.Lornstar.com worked as our behind the scenes man on set.   This year, Mike L from www.WoodFloats.tv worked the behind the scenes magic.  Mike brought his own unique view of filmaking to capturing the vibe that is Dragons' Den

So here, are the, never seen before, behind the scenes shots, including for the first time a few outtakes for the new beginning/intro:

5 Red Flags for Investors

What makes an Angel investor walk away after only 1 meeting?

What gets a Dragon breathing fire?

What words kill your deal the moment they cross your lips?

Find out this month in Wise Words as this month in the Globe and Mail, I cover the 5 Greatest Red Flags for Investors.  Including:

Jim a Wrestler???

During the taping of Season Two of Dragons Den, a group of wrestling superstars pitched a Picture_063 new league.

While we thought this could be a deal (you'll have to wait until October to find out if it was) what we didn't expect was Jim Treliving, Dragon, former RCMP officer, Boston Pizza chairman to recount his days as a masked wrestler, fighting out of Edmonton under the name, the Hangman.

Sources close to the Dragon, confirm the truth of this statement.

Who would have thunk it?  From Bodyslams to Billionaire?

PrintAKid goes into the Den

During our taping of season two, we met entreprenerus from coast to coast.  Now that the show is in the Can, I wanted to highlight some of those we meet.

First up is

Printakid: personalized books for children

This web 2.0 Montreal based company creates personalized books for childrenPicture_093

This sort of long end DIY customization is sweeping the web (see www.LULU.com for another example) but this site allows you to go one step further and actually make your child the hero of the story.

During the pitch, the entrepreneur, Ms. Noemi Berlus, unleashed a story using "junior Dragons" as the star.  I can't do the pitch justice in full but I will let you see Noemi's version of our Dragons as kids.

Now its your turn Armchair Dragons......have a look at their site: http://www.printakid.com and cast your vote.

That's a Wrap!!!!!

Well, folks as Porky Pig used to say:

Season Two is now offically "in the can". The cast and crew will now take a much deserved few days off, then it will be back to the studio to begin the long and arduous process of editing the show.  In the end, we broke records for number of deals done and total amount invested.

Here are some pix from the last few days of shooting.

For those who didn't make it for Season Two, rest assured if we get good ratings, CBC will most likely do a season three.  So now it is up to you to watch come October!

Thanks to all those who applied, who tried out, who pitched, who worked behind the scenes and of course to our Dragons!!!!!

Season Two Slideshow

Dragon Robert leaving wife for Associate Producer Molly

Has Img_0977_2Producer Molly won over the hearts of a Millionaire?

Of course not, Robert's been happlily married for over 17 years.

But with a smile like Robert's, can you blame the ladies for swooning?

Baby Kaede (above) from http://www.babykaede.com joined his mother in the Den today pitching a new line of punk inspired baby clothes.

You'll have to find out how they did on Season Two (starting Oct 3rd) by tuning in but til then, check out this kid working the blackberry, the guys from Research in Motion would be so proud.

Congradulations Lara & Keri

Today, two of our favorite crew graduate tomorrow.

Lovely Lara, Associate Producer and "Killah" Keri from our PA team.  Both graduate from Ryerson's RT and Diane B toasted both at dinner for their contributions, past, present and future.

From the Dragons, the Crew and the Pitchers congrats ladies, and thanks for all you do to keep this beast of reality TV feed.

Boston Pizza serves up the Crew

Bostonpizza5 Last year Jim treated the crew to as much pizza as they could eat.  This year he and fine folks from Boston Pizza took it to the next level not only serving up pizza, wings and salad, but Jim also gave each member of the crew a fully loaded Boston Pizza card.

Guess Gilled Cheese is out....Boston Pizza is in.

Thanks to the whole BP team.
